According to police , in the Sherabad area of Charbagh Tehsil of Swat district, on Sunday, a remote control bomb (IED) exploded on a police van assigned to the security of foreign diplomats, one police personnel Burhan Ali resident of Shamozai Swat was martyred and the other four personnel sub-inspector Sarzamin Khan, driver Rahmatullah, constable Hussain Gul and constable Mohammad Khan were injured in the incident.
“This convoy included ambassadors and thirty-three attachés of eleven countries who were on the way to Malam Jabba for sightseeing and entertainment.” Officials said.
According to DPO Swat Dr. Zahidullah, the case of this incident has been registered in CTD police station Kabal on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Jan Muhammad, in-charge of Police post Taligram.
Unknown accused have been named in the FIR and a case has been registered against them under Sections 324-302 and 7ATA.
To investigate the incident, senior police officers from Peshawar also visited Swat on Monday and made a detailed inspection of the site.Police officials of Swat gave them a detailed briefing regarding the overall law and order situation in the area.
“The explosion was a remote control explosion, in which one and a half to two kilograms of explosives were used.” police officials said, added that a remote-controlled bomb was planted in the mud on the roadside and the police were attacked by remote control.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of Shaheed constable Burhan Ali was performed at Javed Iqbal Shaheed Police Lines, Kabal, Swat.
Regional Police Officer Malakand Division Muhammad Ali Khan, Brigadier Amir, DPO Swat Dr. Zahidullah, DC Swat Shahzad Mehboob, Additional SP Ghulam Sadiq, SP Upper Swat Shaukat Ali, SP Traffic Habibullah Khan, SP Headquarters Zahoor Ahmed and other police officers and elders participated.
RPO Malakand and other officers placed flower bouquets on the body of Shaheed Police Constable Burhan Ali and the police team saluted the body of Shaheed.” After the funeral prayer, Fatiha was recited for the high status of the martyr.”
