FIFA Suspends Pakistan Football Federation Membership Again

According to FIFA’s official statement, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has been suspended with immediate effect as it failed to incorporate amendments into its constitution that ensure transparent and democratic elections and align with FIFA’s normalization process guidelines.

FIFA further stated that this suspension will remain in place until the PFF Congress approves the constitutional amendments proposed by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Previously, FIFA and AFC had recommended amendments to the PFF constitution, particularly regarding the election process. However, the PFF’s elected congress rejected these changes, leading to the suspension.

This is not the first time PFF has faced suspension. In April 2021, FIFA suspended Pakistan’s football body due to the Ashfaq Hussain group’s takeover of PFF offices. That ban was lifted in June 2022.

Following FIFA’s decision, Pakistan’s teams will be unable to participate in any international competitions, and all financial and technical support from FIFA will also be suspended.
