A citizen has recovered Rs760,000 allegedly paid in connection with a Canadian work visa after the Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Karachi took action on the complaint.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the complainant had alleged that a suspect took Rs760,000 from him after promising to arrange a Canadian work visa but failed to fulfil the commitment.
The complaint was registered with the FIA’s AHTC Karachi, which subsequently investigated the matter and recovered the full amount, officials said.
The recovered Rs760,000 was handed back to the complainant following the legal proceedings, according to the FIA.
The agency said the timely action resulted in the recovery of the complainant’s money and resolution of the complaint.
The case highlights the risks faced by people seeking overseas employment through unofficial intermediaries, particularly when substantial amounts are demanded in exchange for promises of work visas.
