ISLAMABAD — The Federal Board of Revenue’s Lifestyle Monitoring Cell has flagged more than 20 individuals whose extravagant lifestyles sharply contrast with their declared incomes and assets, prompting a deeper probe under the ongoing FBR tax evasion crackdown.

Among the cases, one individual from South Punjab was found to own 19 luxury vehicles worth Rs. 624 million, yet his tax filings from 2020 to 2024 listed only modest or no vehicle ownership. Another case involves a travel vlogger who documented lavish trips across Europe and the Middle East while declaring an income of just Rs. 490,800 and assets totaling Rs. 1.09 million.

A third investigation centers on a member of a political family, also from South Punjab, whose undeclared assets include four high-end vehicles and properties valued at Rs. 180.5 million. None of these were reflected in official tax records.

The FBR tax evasion crackdown relies heavily on publicly available data, including social media posts, to identify discrepancies between visible wealth and reported financials. Investigators say this approach has helped expose patterns of underreporting and asset concealment.

All intelligence gathered has been forwarded to regional tax offices for legal action. Officials confirmed that proceedings are underway, and while identities remain protected under tax laws, the FBR tax evasion crackdown will continue targeting individuals whose lifestyles raise red flags.

According to an FBR official, the goal is not only to recover unpaid taxes but also to reinforce transparency and accountability. The FBR tax evasion crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure that visible affluence aligns with financial declarations under Pakistani law.
