Karachi — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday held a tax awareness outreach seminar at Al Rahim Group of Companies, aiming to encourage voluntary compliance and highlight the importance of broadening Pakistan’s tax base.
The seminar was organised by the Taxpayers’ Services Wing of the Federal Board of Revenue on the instructions of Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and was supervised by Member Taxpayers’ Services Wing Tehmina Aamer.
Focus on voluntary and timely compliance
The FBR delegation included Abdul Hameed Abro, Secretary Taxpayers’ Services Wing, and Tariq Asad, Second Secretary of the wing.
Addressing participants, Abro underscored the importance of timely and voluntary tax compliance, describing it as a shared responsibility of individuals and corporate entities. He urged taxpayers to ensure transparency and accuracy while filing sales tax and income tax returns, noting that delays and non-compliance undermine the country’s economic stability.
He also briefed participants on key tax laws and regulations, explaining that awareness initiatives such as outreach seminars form part of FBR’s broader strategy to expand the tax base and improve inclusivity within the taxation system.
Interactive discussion with participants
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which representatives of Al Rahim Group of Companies and other participants sought clarification on various tax-related matters. The company’s management appreciated the initiative, describing it as a constructive step toward improving understanding of tax obligations.
At the end of the seminar, FBR officials presented commemorative souvenirs to the host organisation in recognition of its cooperation and support.
