FBR to set up PRAL liaison office in Lahore to facilitate taxpayers

LAHORE, Tuesday, September 22, 2026: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has agreed to establish a Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) liaison office in Lahore to facilitate taxpayers and tax practitioners and help resolve technical issues related to the tax filing system.

The decision came during a meeting between the FBR chairman and a Tax Bar Association delegation led by its President Rana Saqib Munir at the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Lahore.

The meeting, held as part of an initiative undertaken on the prime minister’s directives, focused on resolving issues faced by taxpayers and tax practitioners and improving tax administration.

Member Inland Revenue Operations, senior FBR officials and representatives of the Tax Bar Association attended the meeting.

Participants discussed issues relating to income tax returns, sales tax, tax filing procedures and the broader tax administration system.

Langrial assured the delegation of FBR’s continued support and directed the concerned officers to address the issues raised by tax practitioners in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.

He also accepted the proposal to establish a PRAL liaison office in Lahore, which is expected to provide taxpayers and practitioners with a dedicated channel for assistance with technology-related and system issues.

The FBR chairman also took notice of concerns relating to the jurisdiction and transfer of tax cases between Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) and Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II).

He directed the relevant officials to examine the matter and resolve the issues faced by taxpayers and practitioners.

The meeting also discussed proposals concerning the Small Traders Scheme and measures to enhance income tax revenue.

Langrial directed FBR officials to address technical problems in the tax authority’s systems on a priority basis to make the filing process smoother and more efficient.

He appreciated the Tax Bar Association’s suggestions and said practical feedback from stakeholders would be considered while improving tax administration.

The FBR chairman reiterated that engagement with taxpayers and professional bodies would continue as part of efforts to facilitate compliant taxpayers and strengthen the country’s tax system.
