A man was killed in Karachi’s Korangi Ibrahim Hyderi area in what police have described as a targeted murder linked to a family property dispute, officials said on Tuesday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Dr Abdul Khaliq, the killing initially appeared to be a case of resistance during a robbery. However, further investigation revealed that the victim’s own son allegedly planned the attack over a property dispute and arranged the murder through an acquaintance.
Police said the incident took place on June 23, when Muhammad Iqbal was killed in circumstances that were first reported as a robbery attempt. Investigators later concluded that his son, identified as Ejaz, had allegedly conspired to eliminate his father and offered Rs15,000 in cash along with a mobile phone to a friend, Shiraz, to carry out the killing.

Authorities said Shiraz executed the plan on Ejaz’s instructions. Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case and recovered the murder weapon and a motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. A second son, who is also suspected of involvement, remains at large, and raids are underway to arrest him.
The case has highlighted the escalation of domestic disputes into violent crime, with investigators continuing efforts to complete the probe and present findings before the court.
