Islamabad — A man posing as a Grade-17 officer of the National Assembly Secretariat has been arrested after allegedly using fake documents and misrepresenting himself as a government official.

According to a spokesperson for the National Assembly Secretariat, the suspect, identified as Abdul Wajid from Ghotki, had been falsely claiming employment in the Secretariat and was even carrying a forged appointment letter bearing what appeared to be the Speaker’s fake signatures.

Authorities said the case came to light after public complaints and social media reports raised concerns about the individual’s alleged misconduct and misuse of authority. Following verification, action was taken and the suspect was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Officials further stated that the accused had no record of employment in the National Assembly and had allegedly been using the fake identity to obtain undue privileges and protocol services.

The Secretariat has warned the public to remain cautious and verify any official documents related to parliamentary institutions, adding that impersonation and forgery involving government offices is a serious criminal offence.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
