RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested a man at Benazir Bhutto Hospital who allegedly posed as a doctor and obtained blood bottles from the hospital’s blood bank for illegal sale.
A case was registered on the complaint of Ward Master Raja Nauman, with police launching a further investigation into the incident.
According to the FIR, Raja Nauman was on duty during the evening shift when senior laboratory technician Muhammad Ramzan informed him that a young man identified as Saleh Iftikhar had arrived at the blood bank wearing a doctor’s uniform and attempted to obtain blood.
The suspect had allegedly previously been warned against obtaining blood through improper means.
The FIR states that when the man returned to the hospital, staff members detained him. A mobile phone was reportedly recovered from his possession.
According to the complaint, the suspect was unable to provide any proof establishing that he was a doctor despite wearing a doctor’s uniform.
The case alleges that the suspect was involved in the unauthorized purchase and sale of blood. Police have arrested him and registered a case, while further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged activity.
