ISLAMABAD: Exports of sports goods from the country have registered an increase of 4.27 percent during the first two months of the current fiscal year (2024-25) as compared to exports in the corresponding months of last year. The country exported sports goods worth USD 61.982 million during July-August (2024-25) as against exports of USD 59.442 million during July-August (2023-24), showing a growth of 4.27 per cent, according to the data released. from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Among sports products, the export of soccer balls increased by 8.35 percent, from US$35.728 million last year to US$38.713 million in the current year. However, glove exports fell 1.38 percent, from $9.429 million last year to $9.299 million during the current year, PBS data revealed. Likewise, exports of all other sporting goods also fell by 2.21 percent to $13.970 million from last year’s $14.285 million. At the same time, the export of sporting goods decreased by 2.18 percent year-on-year in August 2024 compared to the export in the same month last year. Exports of sporting goods were recorded at $32.624 million in August 2024 compared to exports of $33.350 million in August 2023. Exports of soccer balls increased by 3.84 percent during the month, while exports of gloves and all other sports products fell by 17.98 and 6.32 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, sporting goods exports recorded a month-on-month increase of 11.12 percent during August 2024, as opposed to exports of $29.358 million in July 2024, PBS data revealed. Month-on-month, the export of soccer balls increased by 17.79 percent, the export of gloves and other sports commodities also by 1.89 and 0.23 percent.
