PESHAWAR — The Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Alliance KP (EVAWG Alliance KP) has expressed concern over recent military strikes involving the United States and Israel in Iran, citing reports of civilian casualties, including women and children.

In a statement issued from Peshawar, the alliance said any escalation of armed conflict that endangers civilians raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The group emphasized that the protection of civilians, particularly women and girls, must remain a priority in military and political decisions.

The statement follows heightened tensions in the region after reported strikes on Iranian targets, which have drawn international attention and reactions from governments and civil society organizations.

Impact on women and vulnerable communities

EVAWG Alliance KP said violence and instability create long-term risks for women and girls, including displacement, disruption of livelihoods, limited access to health services and increased exposure to gender-based violence.

The organization said it stands in solidarity with affected communities and with global peace advocates calling for restraint and accountability.

Call for de-escalation

The alliance urged the international community to prioritize diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. It also called for independent assessments of civilian harm, humanitarian access for affected populations and adherence to human rights obligations.

EVAWG Alliance KP reaffirmed its commitment to promoting justice, peace and the protection of women and girls in situations of conflict and violence.
