LAHORE, November 5, 2026: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba has announced plans to lead a Pakistani business delegation to Ethiopia from January 24 to 29, 2027, to explore trade and investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing a business forum at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Wednesday, the ambassador invited Pakistani companies from the pharmaceutical, surgical instruments, textile, agriculture, agro-processing, information technology and tourism sectors to participate in the visit.

He said the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad would organise and lead the delegation, providing Pakistani businesses an opportunity to explore Ethiopia’s market and establish commercial partnerships.

The ambassador highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral trade and investment, encouraging Lahore’s business community to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Ethiopia.

LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar welcomed the initiative and assured the ambassador of the chamber’s support in facilitating the participation of local businesses.

He said Pakistan and Ethiopia offered significant opportunities for each other’s business communities, but existing bilateral trade remained below its potential.

To address this gap, Asghar proposed a 90-day action plan in coordination with the Ethiopian Embassy to identify opportunities and facilitate commercial engagement between the two countries.

He also invited Ethiopian chambers of commerce to visit the LCCI for business-to-business meetings aimed at developing direct links between companies and expanding trade.

Earlier, Ambassador Oba was received at the chamber by LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar, Vice President Khadim Hussain and other office-bearers.

The ambassador congratulated the newly elected LCCI leadership and expressed his best wishes for their tenure.

LCCI Vice President Khadim Hussain thanked the Ethiopian delegation and members of Lahore’s business community for participating in the forum.
