Bollywood actress Esha Deol has said she does not view herself as a “single mother” following her separation from former husband Bharat Takhtani, emphasizing that both parents continue to share responsibilities in raising their children.

The actress and Bharat Takhtani ended their marriage in 2024 after nearly 12 years together. The former couple has two daughters, Radhya and Miraya.

In a recent interview, Esha Deol addressed the label often used for her since the separation, explaining that while she is currently living independently, she does not consider herself a single mother because both parents remain actively involved in their daughters’ lives.

Focus on co-parenting after separation

According to Esha, she and Bharat Takhtani continue to work together as a team when it comes to parenting and making decisions related to their children.

She said she does not like describing herself as a single mother because it does not accurately reflect her situation. The actress noted that parental responsibilities do not end after a divorce; instead, they evolve into a different form of partnership focused on the well-being of the children.

Esha added that two mature adults should strive to maintain cooperation and understanding after a separation to provide stability and support for their children.

Family remains a priority

The actress said she and her former husband are committed to prioritizing their daughters’ happiness and upbringing despite no longer being married.

Esha Deol is the daughter of veteran Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini. She married Bharat Takhtani in 2012, and the couple announced their separation in 2024.

Their approach to co-parenting has drawn attention from fans, many of whom have praised the former couple for maintaining a cooperative relationship following their divorce.
