The court has directed Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut to ensure her attendance in the defamation case; otherwise, a non-bailable warrant may be issued against her.
According to Indian media, the case was filed by renowned poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar. Kangana’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiqui, informed the court that she was unable to attend due to her commitments in a parliamentary session.
Javed Akhtar’s lawyer, J.K. Bhardwaj, filed a petition requesting the issuance of a non-bailable warrant due to Kangana’s repeated absence, stating that the actress had failed to appear in court on nearly 40 occasions.
The court has instructed Kangana’s lawyer to submit a response to the petition and, despite objections, has given her a final opportunity to appear. However, if she fails to attend this time, a non-bailable warrant may be issued against her.
It is worth noting that this dispute began in 2016 when Javed Akhtar allegedly called Kangana Ranaut to his home and advised her to apologize to actor Hrithik Roshan.
