News: England have qualified for the Super 8s of the 2024 T20 World Cup and have been placed in Group B with the West Indies, South Africa and the USA. The Jos Buttler-led team will play West Indies on June 19, South Africa on June 21 and USA on June 23.
The USA Cricket team surprised everyone in the T20 World Cup 2024 and proved to be one of the most competitive teams in the event.
His performance prompted former captain and current commentator Nasser Hussain to call for England to simply ignore the US cricket team in 2022, after Babar Azam’s Pakistan became champions for the second time.
In a podcast with British commentator Michael Atherton for Sky Sports, Hussain said: “I will not accept it at all. As many parties know, Pakistan has won the United States. Canada knows. Every side is against the USA. They are a very good side; “England will not take sides wherever is easy.”
The United States started their T20 World Cup 2024 on June 1 by defeating Canada in the opener and shockingly, defeated Pakistan, the runner-up of the last edition, in the super match.
Pakistan set a target of 160 for USA and the Pakistani bowlers failed to defend the total, taking the match to super where USA beat Pakistan. Pakistan then lost against India and eventually returned home because they failed to qualify for the Super 8 round.
As for England, they won T20 World Cup 2024 very hard. Their first match against Scotland was washed out due to rain and then they lost against arch-rivals Australia.
Their chances of qualifying depend only on them winning their remaining matches and the Australians beating Scotland and England progressing to the Super 8 stage.
