Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and social media platform X, is awaiting approval from the Government of Pakistan to launch Starlink services in the country.
In a statement, Musk said that they are waiting for the green light from Pakistani authorities. Meanwhile, officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that discussions between the government and Starlink are ongoing, with the application currently in its initial stages.
PTA officials explained that the licensing process involves reviewing various technical requirements, including bandwidth, uplinking, gateways, and other critical aspects. Pakistan’s National Space Agency is also assessing the service under the National Space Policy framework.
The PTA emphasized that this procedure applies to all foreign satellite service providers. After the space agency’s approval, regulatory consent will be required to initiate Starlink’s operations in Pakistan.
