Ghaz — A 70-year-old woman was killed and valuables worth millions looted when four masked intruders broke into a house in the suburban village of Bhal Jhamra during the late hours of the night.
According to the complainant, Saifur Ali son of Hashim Khan, his mother Shamim Akhtar did not come downstairs for Fajr prayers as usual. When he went upstairs around 5:30 a.m., he found her dead, with blood oozing from her nose and ears. His daughter, Umm-e-Humah Almas, was discovered semi-conscious with adhesive tape on her mouth.
The granddaughter later told police that four masked men entered the house by smashing a window. When they raised alarm, one of the robbers injected Shamim Akhtar with a syringe and suffocated her with a pillow. Another intruder injected the girl and struck her on the head, leaving her unconscious. The robbers then looted Rs. 1.4 million in local and foreign currency, five tolas of gold, rings, and lockets before fleeing.
Police contingents arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and collected forensic evidence. The deceased’s body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination. A case has been registered on Saifur Ali’s complaint, and special investigation teams have been formed to trace and arrest the culprits.
The incident has left the local community in shock, with residents demanding immediate action and swift justice.
