Eight arrested in Attock over illegal gold mining operation

ATTOCK: Police in Attock have arrested eight suspects during a crackdown on illegal gold mining in the Jund area, authorities said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by Jund Police Station on the directives of District Police Officer Sardar Mawarhan Khan and under the supervision of SHO Inspector Gulfraz Ahmed.

According to police, the arrested suspects were identified as Mehr Khan, Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Saifullah and Faisal Waqas, residents of Jund, along with Hazrat Bilal, Rahmat Shah, Gul Rehman and Marifat Shah from Kohat.

Police said machinery, mining tools and other equipment allegedly used in illegal gold extraction were also seized during the operation.

Cases have been registered against the accused, while further investigation is underway.
