The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its forecast regarding the sighting of the Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH moon, indicating that 1st Rabi-ul-Awwal is likely to fall on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awwal) is expected to be observed on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
According to the PMD, there is no possibility of sighting the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon on the evening of August 13 due to the moon’s age and other astronomical parameters.
The department added that most parts of Pakistan are expected to experience partly cloudy weather on the evening of August 13. In Karachi, the moon is expected to set at 7:40 p.m., but astronomical conditions are not favorable for visibility.
The PMD emphasized that its statement is based on scientific calculations and weather forecasts. The final announcement regarding the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal and the official moon sighting will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
If the forecast holds, Muslims across Pakistan are expected to observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on August 26, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
