LAHORE: The District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has initiated a comprehensive verification drive against private schools suspected of obtaining registration through forged or incomplete documentation. The move aims to enhance transparency in the education sector and ensure that students are provided with safe and quality learning environments.
Under newly issued directives, all private school owners in Lahore have been instructed to submit original hard copies of their registration documents within three days for detailed scrutiny. Officials stated that the information previously submitted on the Private Educational Institutions Registration System (PEPRS) portal must correspond exactly with the original records.
According to the DEA, any discrepancy or evidence of forged or bogus certificates will result in strict legal action. The verification process is designed to confirm compliance with regulatory standards and to safeguard the interests of students and parents.
Mandatory document verification
As part of the verification exercise, private schools have been directed to submit several essential documents. These include hygiene and building fitness certificates, CCTV and security-related documentation, and proof of the availability of clean drinking water. Institutions are also required to provide complete student records to ensure transparency in enrollment practices.
Additionally, schools must submit proof of property ownership or valid tenancy agreements. Authorities have also requested lists of students enrolled under free education schemes, in line with regulatory requirements aimed at promoting equitable access to education.
Strict penalties for non-compliance
The DEA has warned that registrations obtained through fake or incomplete documentation will be cancelled immediately. Schools found in violation of the regulations may face license revocation and legal proceedings under relevant laws.
Education officials emphasized that the initiative is intended to strengthen regulatory oversight and maintain standards across the private education sector. By ensuring that institutions meet safety and administrative requirements, the authority seeks to create a secure and conducive learning environment for students.
The verification campaign reflects the government’s broader commitment to improving governance and accountability in the education system. Authorities have urged all private school operators to comply with the directives within the stipulated timeframe to avoid punitive action.
