Dhudial: The launch ceremony of the literary magazine “Dhan Scribes” published by the Department of English, University of Chakwal was held today at the Sethi Hall of the university. The prestigious event was presided over by renowned poet Dr. Azam Samour, while other distinguished guests included Professor Shahid Azad, Head of the Department of English, Government Graduate College, Pinwal, Professor Kausar Abbas, Head of the Department of Statistics, and renowned journalist Nabeel Anwar Dhakku. The organizing duties were carried out by Nida Syed and Wasan Haider.
The event was attended by heads of various departments of the university and students. On this occasion, the student editors of the magazine, Fatima Zahra, Tahira Jabeen, Farah Afzal, Iqra Nayab, and Daniyal Khan, in their speeches, described the experience of compiling, arranging, and publishing “Dhan Scribes” as an important academic step and an important milestone.
The Head of the English Department, Professor Ali Raza, shed light on the various stages of the publication of the magazine and expressed special gratitude to the assistants and the student team. Dr. Azam Samour, while addressing the ceremony, highlighted the importance of literary magazines and termed the creative process as an intellectual ascension. Professor Shahid Azad, in his speech, mentioned the literary journals of the past and appreciated the creative role of the English Department. Professor Kausar Abbas stressed the need for academic cooperation between the English Department of Panwal College and the University of Chakwal. Renowned journalist Nabil Anwar Dhakko, in his address, shared his memories related to the college magazine “Shamshir” and praised the writings of “Dhan Scribes”.
The ceremony ended with the words of thanks from Professor Ali Raza, in which he appreciated the presence and cooperation of all the participants.
