DG ISPR warns Imran Khan’s political narrative is endangering national security

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary has warned that a deliberate narrative is being crafted to create mistrust between the people and the Pakistan Army, calling it a growing national security concern. Speaking at a detailed media briefing on Friday, the DG ISPR cautioned that the armed forces will not allow political actors or hostile elements to pit citizens against state institutions.

Lt Gen Chaudhary said the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to their constitutional duty. “We have taken an oath to defend Pakistan. We stand firm and will continue to stand firm against all internal and external threats,” he said.

‘Delusional mindset’ behind anti-military propaganda, says DG ISPR

The DG ISPR said a specific individual—referring to incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan—has been driving a sustained anti-military campaign. He described the mindset behind this narrative as “delusional and narcissistic,” warning that it has grown into a national security threat.

“That threat emanates from a delusional mindset of a delusional person who has become captive to his own ego, believing that his wishes are bigger than those of the State of Pakistan,” he stated.

He added that Imran Khan’s politics has revolved around an “unhealthy obsession” with the military, and that this fixation has fuelled misinformation, misinterpretation of state functioning, and an attempt to mislead the public.

“It is a misunderstanding that the Army is the state. The government is the state; the Army is an institution of the state,” Lt Gen Chaudhary clarified.

Army accuses PTI founder of widening civil–military gap

The DG ISPR alleged that Imran Khan is responsible for creating a gap between the public and the armed forces, noting that anyone who meets him eventually repeats the same anti-military talking points. He said such narratives are crafted in prison meetings and social media networks.

He added that these narratives quickly find space in foreign media. “A particular group is building anti-Pakistan and anti-Army messaging. Any narrative created here gets highlighted within minutes or hours on Indian and Afghan media,” he said.

The DG ISPR described Imran Khan as a “mental patient” whose statements and allegations align with the interests of hostile media outlets.

‘False narratives will not stand’

Lt Gen Chaudhary said Imran Khan and his supporters use the Army as a scapegoat to distract from their own governance record. “Their comical obsession with the Army is meant to divert attention from incompetence and corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where they have ruled for over a decade,” he said.

“These businesses related to false narratives will no longer stand,” he added.

He also criticised recent political commentary surrounding the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) notification, calling it a “flood of lies” and insisting that the legal process is clear. He said misrepresenting the CDF notification and spreading rumours fits into a broader pattern of misinformation designed to weaken public trust.

‘No one will be allowed to create rifts between the people and Army’

The DG ISPR warned that efforts to divide the public and the armed forces will not be tolerated. “No one will be allowed to create rifts between the people and the Army, or to support the agenda of Pakistan’s enemies,” he said.

“Three days ago, the same person was calling for negotiations with the Khawarij. This confused and contradictory behaviour shows how dangerous the narrative has become,” he added.

The DG ISPR said the Army respects all political parties but expects politics to remain separate from the armed forces. “The Army has nothing to do with politics. We must be kept out of political disputes,” he stressed.
