DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 13 — Commissioner Dera Division Dawood Khan distributed Rs 9.6 million in scholarships to outstanding students under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s “Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa” program, aimed at encouraging academic excellence and supporting talented youth.
The ceremony, organized by the Dera Ismail Khan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education at Mufti Mehmood School and College, was attended by board officials, parents, and students. Dawood Khan, speaking as chief guest, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to helping students continue their education and prepare for a competitive future.
Scholarships were awarded to top performers across multiple categories. Twenty Matric Science 2024 toppers received Rs 120,000 each, totaling Rs 2.4 million. Another 20 FA/FSc toppers were granted Rs 180,000 each, amounting to Rs 3.6 million. Additionally, 20 College Side 2022 toppers — 10 from Science and 10 from Arts — received Rs 360,000 each, totaling Rs 3.6 million.

The Commissioner praised the efforts of the Dera Board in organizing the event and highlighted reforms such as e-marking and digital registration, which he said would improve transparency and efficiency. He urged students to strive for excellence in all fields, noting that the present era demands hard work and innovation.
Chairman BISE Dera Professor Dr. Ehsanullah congratulated the recipients and described the scholarship program as a commendable step by the provincial government to promote education. He said the board is moving towards e-marking for the 2026 examinations and is digitalizing registration, roll number slips, and certificates. He added that construction of a new board building is underway to provide modern facilities for students.
Controller Secretary Dr. Qayyum Nawaz said the purpose of the program is to provide financial support and motivation to talented students so they can pursue higher education and contribute to national development.
