The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to provide interest-free loans of up to 1.5 million PKR to low-income individuals for quality housing.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Housing and the Bank of Khyber for the implementation of the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur attended the signing ceremony, along with provincial cabinet members Dr. Amjad Ali Khan and Muzammil Aslam, as well as officials from relevant departments and the Bank of Khyber.
Under the scheme, low-income individuals will receive interest-free loans of up to 1.5 million PKR for constructing new homes or expanding and renovating existing ones. The project will cost 4 billion PKR, and a convenient 7-year repayment schedule has been proposed, with a maximum monthly installment of 18,000 PKR.
The scheme will operate as a revolving fund for the next seven years. Applicants must own land to qualify for the loans.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that providing quality housing facilities to the people is a priority for the current provincial government. He described the launch of the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme as a significant step in this regard.
He highlighted that this welfare initiative will not only offer quality housing facilities to low-income individuals but will also improve their social and economic conditions. He emphasized that transparency will be ensured in the disbursement of interest-free loans to guarantee that only deserving individuals benefit from the scheme.
The Chief Minister also mentioned other welfare initiatives under the Ehsaas Program, including Ehsaas Nojawan, Ehsaas Hunar, and Ehsaas Rozgar Program, which aim to uplift the province’s low-income population.
