It has been decided to offer ‘Namaz-e-Istisqa’ across Punjab on November 15. Severe fog and smog have engulfed Punjab, including Lahore, for several days, making Lahore the most polluted city in the world. The smog has disrupted daily life, and air quality has become extremely hazardous.
The Department of Auqaf will arrange ‘Namaz-e-Istisqa’ throughout the province on Friday. Rain is desperately needed in Punjab to mitigate the effects of the smog, as the region faces significant climate change challenges.
Namaz-e-Istisqa is a prayer for collective repentance and seeking rain from Allah. It is performed in an open field during times of drought and lack of rain, where people humbly pray and plead for divine mercy and rainfall.
