Pakistan’s lacrosse journey reached new heights as Hazara’s daughters, Muqaddas Tariq and Momina Tariq, secured a gold medal at the prestigious Okinawa Open Lacrosse Championship in Okinawa, Japan. Representing Pakistan on an international stage, they showcased exceptional talent and determination.
Muqaddas and Momina participated in a highly competitive training camp in Japan from February 8-15, 2025, before taking part in the Okinawa Open. Competing against top lacrosse teams from 12 countries, they displayed remarkable skills and teamwork. In the final, Pakistan dominated South Korea with a resounding 18-6 victory, securing the championship title.
Previously, both Muqaddas and Momina were integral members of Pakistan’s national lacrosse champion team, making history with their outstanding performances. What makes their achievement even more inspiring is that they self-sponsored their journey, receiving no financial support from government departments.
Their historic victory has made the Hazara community and the entire nation proud. They hope that the government will recognize their efforts and provide support, enabling them to further excel in lacrosse and promote the sport in Hazara and across Pakistan.
Their dedication and success serve as a beacon of inspiration for young athletes, proving that passion, perseverance, and hard work can lead to remarkable achievements on the global stage.
