Fortinet, a global cybersecurity leader, introduced its Sovereign SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) solution during the third Fortinet Security Day held on September 16, 2025, in Pakistan. The event focused on data sovereignty in Pakistan, showcasing how businesses can meet regulatory demands without compromising performance, scalability, or security.

To address rising concerns around data governance, Fortinet’s Sovereign SASE enables organizations to protect users, applications, and data across locations. More importantly, it ensures that sensitive information remains within national borders. As a result, businesses can comply with Pakistan’s Personal Data Protection Bill (PDPB) 2023 and other emerging regional regulations.

According to Shadi Khuffash, Fortinet’s Senior Regional Director, the solution is ideal for sectors like government, finance, and healthcare. These industries handle sensitive data and face strict regulatory oversight. SASE is built for organizations that need control, compliance, and operational efficiency, he noted.

Meanwhile, Saqib Ishfaq, Fortinet’s Regional Director for Pakistan, emphasized the growing complexity of cybersecurity threats. He explained that local regulations are becoming more stringent, making proactive security essential. Sovereign SASE helps organizations detect anomalies, respond to threats in real time, and improve user experience. Additionally, it promotes transparency and agility across the corporate sector.

Throughout the event, Fortinet brought together customers, partners, government officials, and industry experts. Attendees explored emerging cybersecurity trends and innovations. Furthermore, a dedicated Tech Expo offered hands-on demos and networking opportunities with specialists.

Over the past few years, Pakistan’s digital transformation has accelerated. Consequently, conversations around data governance and privacy have gained urgency. The PDPB 2023 introduced strict requirements for data localization, consent management, and breach notification. Therefore, businesses now face mounting pressure to ensure that data remains secure and compliant with national laws. As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, the need for localized, sovereign solutions has become critical.

Globally recognized for its cybersecurity expertise, Fortinet secures the largest enterprises, service providers, and government organizations. Its portfolio includes firewalls, endpoint protection, secure SD-WAN, and now, Sovereign SASE—designed to meet the evolving needs of data sovereignty in Pakistan and beyond.
