ISLAMABAD, September 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday reviewed progress on wheat import arrangements and directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan to proceed with accepting the lowest bid or bids for Sindh’s remaining requirement of 185,000 metric tonnes.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Dar chaired the seventh meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports for Food Year 2026-27.
The committee reviewed the latest progress on wheat import arrangements and discussed steps needed to complete the process on time.
Dar also directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to arrange the required payments without delay and expedite tripartite agreements with TCP.
He said timely completion of the import process was necessary to ensure adequate wheat supplies at reasonable prices and provide maximum relief to the public.
The meeting was attended by the federal minister for national food security and research, Sindh’s food minister, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the commerce secretary, managing director of PASSCO, relevant provincial secretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
