Abbottabad(Tahir Mehmood) – The Cyber Crime Agency Abbottabad has launched a major operation, arresting two suspects involved in harassing women through Facebook and WhatsApp. This decisive action highlights the growing effectiveness of Pakistan’s cyber enforcement efforts under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA).
According to agency officials, the prime suspect, Zubair, had been residing in Qatar while continuously targeting women via social media. His brother, Zeeshan, played a supporting role by helping create and operate the fake Facebook account used in the harassment. Based on a victim’s complaint, the Cyber Crime Agency Abbottabad registered a case under PECA and initiated a detailed investigation.
During the operation, Zeeshan was arrested from Swabi. Meanwhile, surveillance teams tracked Zubair’s travel plans. As soon as he arrived at Peshawar Airport from Qatar, authorities detained him and began further interrogation.
Sub-Inspector Syeda Pakiza of the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre Abbottabad led the investigation. She managed all stages professionally, from gathering digital evidence to executing the arrests. Her leadership reflects the increasing role of women in law enforcement and digital forensics.
A spokesperson confirmed that mobile phones, social media accounts, and other digital assets were seized and sent for forensic analysis. The case includes serious charges such as harassment, blackmail, and identity fraud—offenses punishable under PECA with imprisonment and fines.
Furthermore, Senior Civil Judge Abbottabad, Mohib-ur-Rehman, delivered a judgment that added legal weight to the operation. The Cyber Crime Agency Abbottabad emphasized that misuse of social media is a serious offense. Victims of harassment or blackmail are urged to report incidents immediately for swift action.
This successful operation reinforces the commitment of the Cyber Crime Agency Abbottabad to protect digital spaces and uphold justice in Pakistan’s evolving cyber landscape.
