KARACHI, October 29, 2026: Pakistan Customs has detected a major case of alleged misdeclaration involving a shipment worth Rs688 million destined for the Peshawar Export Processing Zone in Risalpur.

The irregularity was uncovered during a joint inspection conducted by the Directorate of Transit Trade Operations Karachi and the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement following intelligence about the consignment.

Director General Transit Trade Irfan Javed said authorities intercepted the shipment and discovered that its actual contents did not match the goods declared in customs documents.

According to officials, the importer had declared the consignment as “machine press parts” in the Goods Declaration (GD). However, a physical examination of the container revealed load cells instead of the declared machinery components.

The shipment was being transported to the Peshawar Export Processing Zone in Risalpur when customs authorities conducted the inspection.

Officials said the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) had issued the importer a manufacturing licence for artificial flowers, plants, suitcases and bags.

However, the recovered load cells neither matched the declared description nor corresponded with the company’s approved manufacturing activities.

According to the applicable customs valuation ruling, the misdeclared goods were valued at Rs688 million, with applicable customs duties and taxes amounting to Rs165 million.

Customs authorities said legal proceedings were being initiated against the company under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act.

A contravention case and formal complaint are being registered as part of the enforcement action against the alleged misdeclaration.
