LISBON: Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined €255 and suspended for 30 days by the Portugal Football Federation for leaving the national team camp without permission.
The fine is extremely small compared with Ronaldo’s daily earnings. His friend, British journalist Piers Morgan, has even offered to help pay the amount.
Morgan addressed Ronaldo on X, saying he could help him settle the fine.
Morgan has long been a close friend and supporter of the Portuguese star and has also backed Ronaldo during his recent dispute with coach Jorge Jesus.
Ronaldo Earns Fine Amount in Just 39 Seconds
The €255 penalty is negligible compared with Ronaldo’s annual income.
According to Forbes estimates cited in the report, the 41-year-old footballer earns around $300 million annually from his salary and commercial deals. His basic annual salary at Saudi club Al Nassr is reportedly around €208.4 million.
Based on his club salary, Ronaldo earns the equivalent of the €255 fine in approximately 39 seconds.
Ronaldo will be available for Portugal’s matches against Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17, as the 30-day suspension is being counted from October 1 and will expire before those fixtures.
