Could Lionel Messi Become Argentina’s Next President? Viral Prediction Sparks Debate

2 Min Read
A Chinese academic has claimed that football icon Lionel Messi could become Argentina’s president within the next five years, although there is no evidence that the Argentine captain plans to enter politics.

The prediction has attracted attention online but remains an unverified personal opinion. Messi has made no public announcement about seeking political office or participating in Argentina’s presidential elections.

Analyst makes political prediction about Messi

The claim was made by Chinese academic and commentator Jiang Xueqin during a discussion with online content creator Sneako on the Kick streaming platform.

According to Jiang, Messi could contest Argentina’s presidential election and win comfortably because of his immense popularity. He also suggested that the football star could remain in office for up to 20 years, arguing that public support would allow him to retain political influence.

However, Jiang did not present any evidence to support the prediction, and the remarks reflected his personal assessment rather than confirmed information.

Speculation follows another successful World Cup campaign

The comments come after Messi, at the age of 39, led Argentina to a second consecutive FIFA World Cup final. Although Argentina finished as runners-up after losing to Spain in the final, Messi continues to be regarded as one of the country’s most celebrated sporting figures.

Despite the online speculation, there has been no indication from Messi or his representatives that he intends to enter politics or run for public office.

At present, the suggestion that Lionel Messi could become Argentina’s president remains an unverified prediction and should not be interpreted as a confirmed political plan.
