Timergara (Rahmat Ullah Swati) — The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed deep concern about rising corruption in the province. Criticizing federal accountability institutions for their silence on the issue, he called for greater transparency and action. Speaking to the media in Timergara after offering condolences on the death of PPP leader Advocate Alamzeb’s mother, he urged the institutions to “set their telescopes” toward corruption in KP. Therefore, he called for swift action to restore public trust.
Moreover, he said even recently resigned ministers have admitted corruption in the provincial administration. They claimed officials demand money for postings and transfers. “The silence of accountability bodies is criminal,” he said. As a result, he warned that unchecked corruption erodes governance and public confidence.
The Governor condemned NAB’s “plea bargain” policy. He said it violates the principles of justice in the State of Madinah. Furthermore, he argued it weakens genuine accountability.
Commenting on the verbal clash between Federal Minister Talal Chaudhry and ANP President Aimal Wali Khan, he urged both leaders to avoid political hostility. Additionally, he requested the Chief Minister to ensure Aimal Wali’s security and prevent any escalation of tensions. “As the province’s chief executive, he must take responsibility,” he added.
Moreover, when discussing provincial performance, the Governor said PTI’s internal divisions harm governance more than any opposition effort. “No other party is needed to oppose the PTI government — PTI itself is enough for that,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, on security, he said security forces are carrying out intelligence-based operations in several areas where they report militant activity. He demanded that the Chief Minister present a clear policy statement in the Assembly. “The Chief Minister cannot be with terrorists at night and with institutions during the day,” he warned.
During his visit to Lower Dir, the Governor met families of deceased PPP workers and offered condolences. He reaffirmed his support for party workers. PPP district and tehsil leaders accompanied him and praised his accessibility and commitment.
