Zubair Taimur, Deputy Chairman of the Police and Civil Administration Committee at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has said that Romania’s Constanta Port could play a significant role as a maritime gateway between Pakistan and Europe, helping expand bilateral trade and boost Pakistani exports.
Welcoming recent remarks by Dan Stoenescu, Taimur said Romania’s strategic geographic location and its growing economy offer Pakistan improved access to Central and Eastern European markets. He added that enhanced connectivity through Constanta Port could reduce logistical barriers and open new avenues for trade diversification.
Taimur said the long-standing diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Romania, spanning more than six decades, provide a strong foundation for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and technology. He noted that both countries have the potential to deepen economic engagement by leveraging their respective strengths.
He also welcomed the proposal to establish a Romania–Pakistan IT Forum, describing it as a timely initiative that could promote digital collaboration, innovation, and joint ventures. According to Taimur, cooperation in information technology and related sectors could deliver tangible economic benefits for businesses in both countries.
Calling for closer engagement between the private sectors of Pakistan and Romania, Taimur urged Pakistani entrepreneurs to strengthen links with Romanian chambers of commerce. He reaffirmed FPCCI’s commitment to facilitating business-to-business cooperation and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing trade ties between the two countries.
