ABBOTTABAD: COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, held its Alumni Excellence Awards 2026 ceremony on Tuesday to recognize graduates for professional achievements, innovation, community service and contributions to society.

The ceremony was attended by alumni, faculty members, students, administrative staff and families of the award recipients. Director CUI Abbottabad Campus Prof. Dr. Zakir Hussain attended as chief guest, while Naveed A. Khan, General Manager Rector’s Secretariat, represented the Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Zakir Hussain congratulated the award recipients and said the university was committed to strengthening alumni relations through networking, mentorship, industry linkages and collaborative initiatives.

Naveed A. Khan conveyed the Rector’s appreciation to the awardees and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining long-term engagement with its graduates.

The alumni honored at the ceremony included Atif Awan, who received the Professional Achievement Award; Maqbool Ur Rehman, who received the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award; Hassan Ali, who received the Distinguished Young Alumni Award; and Muhammad Asmar Hussain, who received the Social Impact and Community Services Award.

According to the university, nominations from across the COMSATS alumni network were reviewed through a structured evaluation process. A committee comprising senior academic and administrative representatives assessed the nominees’ achievements, credentials and supporting documents.

The university said transparency, fairness and merit were maintained throughout the selection process to ensure the credibility of the awards.

COMSATS University said the Alumni Excellence Awards are aimed at recognizing graduates who serve as role models for students and ambassadors of the institution.

Through alumni engagement, mentorship programmes, professional networking and industry collaboration, the university said it continues to strengthen its alumni community and support academic and national development.

The ceremony concluded with a commitment to further enhance alumni-university engagement and continue recognizing graduates whose achievements bring distinction to COMSATS University Islamabad.
