Commissioner Malakand Meets Qaumi Taroon Jirga Delegation, Key Public Issues Discussed

SWAT: Commissioner Malakand Division Masood Ahmed, along with Regional Police Officer Malakand Syed Fida Hussain Shah, held a meeting with a delegation of the Qami Taroon Jirga, Swat at the Commissioner Office Saidu Sharif.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Swat Saleem Jan Marwat, SP Police Headquarters, SP Traffic Swat, as well as political and social figures and respected representatives from various walks of life associated with the Qaumi Taroon Jirga.

During the meeting, the jirga delegation apprised the administration of several important public and social issues, including the commencement of construction work on Swat Motorway Phase-II, removal of illegal encroachments in Mingora bazaar and surrounding areas, leasing of the former Swat Serena Hotel building, the rising trend of drug peddling, fixation of prices of essential commodities, payment of compensation to flood-affected people, and other welfare-related matters.

Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner Malakand Division appreciated the non-political role of the Qaumi Taroon Jirga and said the administration values constructive suggestions for identifying and resolving public issues, adding that concerned departments are being directed to address these matters effectively.

RPO Malakand stated that traffic congestion and drug peddling are among the major challenges in Mingora city, and informed that an effective strategy is being formulated against illegal rickshaws, unauthorized vehicles and illegal parking, while a comprehensive plan has also been adopted to curb drug peddling through strict legal action.

The Deputy Commissioner Swat informed the meeting that construction work on Swat Motorway Phase-II would begin within one month, while the provincial government would complete all legal formalities within a few months to lease out the former Swat Serena Hotel building while preserving its historical status.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Commissioner assured the jirga delegation of full administrative and legal support for resolving the issues and said that special teams at the tehsil level are being formed to prevent overpricing of essential commodities before and during the month of Ramadan.
