CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visits Bangladesh to boost defence and security cooperation

RAWALPINDI – Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), during his official visit to Bangladesh, held a series of meetings with the country’s top civil and military leadership aimed at enhancing bilateral defence and security ties.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Chief Advisor of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan.

In the meetings, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security situation and agreed on the importance of strengthening defence cooperation. General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding ties with Bangladesh, emphasizing the shared commitment to deepen relations based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

The CJCSC also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The Bangladeshi civil-military leadership praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, upon arrival at Senakunjo, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was presented a Guard of Honour and laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban to pay tribute to the martyrs.
