Inspired by science fiction movies, this weapon combines pulses of microwave beams to create a powerful ray. To achieve this, electromagnetic pulses must strike the same target within 1,700 trillionths of a second, a feat requiring timing precision even greater than that of the atomic clocks used in advanced GPS satellites.
