Beijing/Islamabad – The Chinese Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed Beijing’s unwavering commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan following an important meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
In his remarks, Wang Yi described the Pakistani army as “a pillar of national stability and a strong guardian of Pakistan–China friendship and cooperation.” He stressed that the Pakistani military has consistently supported the implementation of key consensuses reached between the leaderships of both countries.
Highlighting the significance of bilateral ties amid global uncertainties, Wang said that promoting strong Pakistan–China relations was “highly beneficial for regional peace and stability.” He reiterated that Pakistan has always held a top priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy, noting that despite global challenges, relations between the two countries had grown stronger over time.
The Chinese foreign minister underlined that Beijing would continue to fully support Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security, while also welcoming Islamabad’s growing role in international affairs. He further emphasized the “strong traditional friendship” that underpins Sino-Pakistan ties.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep commitment to China, describing it as the country’s “iron brother.” He noted that Pakistan–China relations were “as solid as a rock,” reflecting the unanimous stance of the Pakistani nation in maintaining friendly ties with Beijing.
Munir expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership for its valuable contributions to Pakistan’s economic and social development. He pledged that the Pakistani army would continue to enhance counter-terrorism and security cooperation with China, and ensure the protection of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan.
He added that Pakistan would take further steps to strengthen bilateral friendship and continue progress on the path of mutual development.
