ISLAMABAD — A group of 885 Pakistani agricultural professionals has returned from China after completing specialized training in modern farming technologies, where they will now serve as “master trainers” to help transfer knowledge across Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

The initiative, supported by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the Prime Minister’s capacity-building programme, aims to strengthen agricultural productivity and introduce advanced farming practices through trained experts.

According to officials, the participants received training at leading Chinese universities and research institutions. The programme focused on modern agricultural technologies, including artificial intelligence in farming, drone-based crop monitoring, advanced seed production, and efficient water management systems.

Knowledge transfer to strengthen agriculture sector

The returning experts are expected to train other professionals, extension workers and farmers in Pakistan, helping to expand the reach of modern agricultural methods across the country.

Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation

The training programme is part of broader agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and China under the 2025–2029 China-Pakistan Action Plan for a Shared Future.

The cooperation framework covers several areas, including crop cultivation, animal husbandry, aquaculture, disease control, agricultural mechanization, seed technology, drip irrigation systems, agro-processing and research collaboration.

Authorities say the broader programme aims to train up to 1,000 young Pakistani agricultural professionals in China to support the modernization of Pakistan’s farming sector.
