Chairman District Council Bhimber Chaudhry Muhammad Yousuf has said that District Council Bhimber has not imposed any new taxes within the district limits. All those taxes, on the basis of which baseless propaganda is being made against the District Council, were implemented during the previous government’s period. Since the local government institutions were restored, no new taxes have been imposed. Rather, the rates of various taxes, including property tax, have been clearly reduced in the current period. He expressed these views while addressing a Meet the Press program at the Kashmir Press Club.

On this occasion, Chief Officer District Council Raja Hafeez, members of District Council Raja Fahim Akhtar Chaudhry Naeem Aslam Naik Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem Chaudhry Haroon were also present. The Chairman District Council, while addressing, said that basically local government institutions provide their own funds, which are obtained in the form of various taxes, but we are collecting taxes according to the rates of the previous period, the notification of which was issued on November 17, 2017.

Some of our local government representatives, including representatives of the municipality, have made such a statement. A stay order was taken against the collection of taxes, which mostly pertains to items going out of Bhimber. Those who obtained the stay order without knowledge or education have tried to stop the income of the District Council, for which we will also get relief soon. He said that the District Council tax on marriage was also started in the previous period and its burden is definitely not on the marriage officials because no marriage official charges a fee of less than 10,000, although they have to deposit 1,500 rupees for registering the marriage and 500 rupees from the District Council.

Therefore, instead of confusing matters, the scholars and marriage officials should try to resolve them, which is their position and status. On this occasion, he said that every penny of the District Council’s income is being spent on the construction and development of the district and equal funds are being provided to every member of the District Council without discrimination.

On this occasion, while answering various questions from journalists, he said that we, the members of the District Council, are running the house like a family and according to the government’s vision, we are working for justice and fairness. We distribute grants as per the requirements and there is no such project in the entire district for which money is being released and it is not present on the ground. Earlier, President Press Club Chaudhry Jamil Shafi and General Secretary Sajjad Mirza welcomed the guests along with members of the Press Club.
