Chana & Potato Chaat with Tamarind Sauce

Chana & potato chaat is spicy crunchy snack. It is served both at food stalls and prepared at homes in Pakistan and served with tamarind sauce. But at domestic level, it is often prepared for guests or served during special events.

White chickpeas (boiled)                            1 cup

Black chickpeas (boiled)                             ½ cup

Potatoes (boiled, chopped                 2 medium size

Onion (finely chopped)                     1 piece

Tomato (finely chopped)                            1 piece

Green Chillies (finely chopped)                  2 pieces

Green coriander (finely chopped)      2 tablespoon       

Lemon juice                                       1 tablespoon

Chaat masala                                    1 tablespoon

Cumin powder                                  1/2 tablespoon

Salt                                                   As per taste

For Tamarind Chutney:

Tamarind pulp                                  1 cup

Sugar                                               2 tablespoon

Salt                                                 ½ tablespoon

Red chilli powder                              ½ teaspoon

Roasted cumin powder                     1 teaspoon

Preparation of Chana Chaat:

1. Take a large bowl and put boiled white chickpeas, black chickpeas and boiled potatoes in it.

2. Then add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chillies and coriander leaves to it.

3. Afterwards, put chaat masala, roasted cumin powder and salt and mix well.

4. Add lemon juice and mix again so that all the ingredients are well combined.

5. The tamarind sauce can be mixed in the chana chaat or can be presented separately.

How to make tamarind sauce:

1. Pour tamarind pulp in a pot and cook on medium temperature.

2. Then add sugar, salt, red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder to it.

3. After mixing well, cook it for about six minutes until the sauce thickens.

4. Cool the sauce and serve with chana chaat.

Delicious chana and potato chaat with tamarind chutney is ready!
