In a significant gesture of support for higher education, Mr. Malak Asif Shahzad, Chairman Zakat and Usher Committee, District Swat, handed over a cheque of Rs. 1,000,000 to Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat. This generous contribution aims to facilitate scholarships for 15 deserving students, including 7 undergraduate (BS) students and 8 postgraduate (M.Phil/Ph.D) scholars, enabling them to continue their academic pursuits without financial hindrance.
During the cheque handover ceremony held at the University of Swat campus, Chairman Malak Asif Shahzad emphasized the need for stronger institutional support for higher education in the region. He urged the elected representatives of Swat—from both the National and Provincial Assemblies—to play their due role in uplifting the University of Swat and strengthening its capacity to serve as a hub of quality education and research.
Marking his visit, the Chairman also inaugurated the Summer Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a tree in the university campus. This initiative aligns with national climate action efforts and promotes environmental sustainability on campus.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher appreciated the support and highlighted the importance of such contributions in empowering youth through education. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
This collaborative gesture marks a meaningful step towards a better future for students and the region alike.
