ISLAMABAD: Acting on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its grand operation to eliminate illegal constructions and encroachments across Islamabad. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, is personally supervising the campaign.

Joint teams of CDA Enforcement and the District Administration, assisted by Islamabad Police, are carrying out indiscriminate operations in multiple areas, including GT Road (Chungi No. 26 to Taxila), T-Chowk to Rawat, Saidpur Village, Lehtrar Road, and adjoining localities.

According to CDA, a large-scale clearance drive has already reclaimed vast stretches of state land:

GT Road (Chungi No. 26 to Taxila): Encroachments removed along a 16-kilometer stretch, with 95% of the area cleared. Around 578 illegal structures were demolished using heavy machinery, and 113 individuals arrested for obstructing the operation.

T-Chowk to Rawat: Encroachments over a 6-kilometer road strip cleared. A total of 191 illegal structures demolished.

Saidpur Model Village: Over 210 kanals of land reclaimed out of 370 kanals occupied. The CDA chief said the clearance will help restore Saidpur as a major tourist attraction.

Lehtrar Road & Tramri Chowk to Alipur: Illegal structures cleared over 24 kilometers, including a 3-kilometer stretch from Tramri Chowk to Bank Stop. In total, 227 encroachments were removed.

Randhawa stressed that the ongoing operations aim to keep Islamabad free of encroachments and preserve its planned outlook. He assured that measures such as afforestation and fencing will be undertaken to prevent re-encroachments on reclaimed land.

“These operations will continue consistently and indiscriminately,” Randhawa said, adding that eliminating illegal occupants is vital for the capital’s beauty and sustainable development.

CDA has urged citizens to support the campaign and promptly report any illegal constructions or encroachments to the authorities.
