Capital Hospital signs MoU with Alibaba Medical AI to launch AI-based radiology system

ISLAMABAD — Capital Hospital Islamabad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alibaba Medical AI to introduce artificial intelligence-based diagnostic solutions in its radiology department, marking a digital upgrade in public healthcare services.

The agreement was signed at the hospital in the presence of Executive Director Dr. Muhammad Naeem Taj, senior medical staff and representatives of Alibaba Medical AI. The initiative is being implemented under the direction of Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, with oversight from CDA Member Administration Talat Mahmood.

Under the partnership, AI-powered screening and image interpretation systems will be integrated into the hospital’s radiology department. Officials said the move is aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy, enabling early disease detection and increasing workflow efficiency.

Focus on diagnostic accuracy and efficiency

According to hospital officials, AI tools will assist doctors in analyzing medical images more precisely, supporting clinical decision-making and reducing reporting times. The technology is expected to enhance departmental performance and improve patient care standards.

Dr. Naeem Taj said the collaboration reflects CDA’s broader strategy to modernize public health facilities through digital innovation. He added that patients will benefit from access to advanced diagnostic tools, while doctors will have improved support systems for timely and accurate reporting.

He expressed confidence that the adoption of AI-based radiology solutions would help position Capital Hospital among leading healthcare institutions in the country.

The initiative is part of CDA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and incorporate emerging technologies into Islamabad’s public sector health infrastructure.
