ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases on Monday approved proposed amendments to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Act, Pakistan Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Civil Servants Act, subject to the incorporation of its recommendations.
The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, reviewed legislative proposals and legal and administrative matters. Senior officials from relevant ministries, departments and divisions attended.
The committee approved proposed amendments to the FIA Act, 1974, subject to necessary changes and the incorporation of its recommendations.
It also cleared proposed amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, subject to the inclusion of recommended changes.
Proposed amendments to the Civil Servants Act, 1973, were also approved with the condition that necessary revisions be incorporated.
The committee, however, deferred consideration of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
During the meeting, proposed amendments to the Immigration Rules, 1979, also received approval.
Meanwhile, a proposal seeking increased penalties for overloading under the National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000, was withdrawn.
The approvals relate to proposed legislative amendments and do not, by themselves, mean that the changes have become law.
