MARDAN: A meeting of the executive and general body members was held at the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar Regional Office, which was presided over by the Vice President of Peshawar Regional Office, Aun Ali Syed. Former governor Haji Ghulam Ali, member-executive, general body members and group leaders of various chambers participated in the meeting in large numbers. The problems faced by the business community and their solutions were discussed in detail in the meeting. Apart from this, a regional committee has been formed to resolve various issues and it is headed by executive committee member Zahir Shah and general body member Mehnaj ud Din Bacha. The Regional Committee will present solutions to the problems of the business community with relevant stakeholders and government bodies. From the meeting, Mardan Chamber Group Leader Zahir Shah thanked the officials of the Regional Office and said that convening this type of meeting will help the business community to bring out the problems faced and solve them unanimously. Apart from this, the problems of the business community can also be reduced by bringing the problems of the business community to the fore and presenting them on different platforms by interacting with different chambers because the business community is suffering number problems. Apart from this, due to the government’s business-friendly policies, the trend of investment in the country is increasing and there has been a positive change in the country’s economy. At the same time, the government should also review the income tax, sales tax and other reforms so that business can flourish to provide substantial assistance in running it in an efficient and smooth manner. We should play our role in reducing the problems of the business community by using the Federation which is an effective platform of the business community. In addition to this, former Governor Haji Ghulam Ali said in the meeting that the government should reduce the interest rate to a minimum, apart from various taxes, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and many other problems are also faced like rampant load shedding of electricity and day-to-day price hikes and over-billing are the cause of non-business. Moreover, the interest rate of the banks should also be reduced, from which the business community can benefit and expand the business. The government should take the federation and chambers into confidence to make frame policy and taking decisions to strengthen the country’s economy like this country’s economy will move in the right direction.
