February 10, 2026 — Officials of the Brampton Super League (BSL) have called on Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown to remove Muhammad Shoaib from his position as Business Ambassador for Tourism and to cancel municipal ground permits issued to organisations linked to him, citing alleged governance and financial irregularities.
BSL founder Tariq Pervez and director Faisal Moledina said the request was made in the interest of transparency and public accountability, adding that the matter concerns the administration of cricket activities and the use of city resources in Brampton, Canada.
According to a statement issued by the officials, the allegations against Shoaib include forgery, favouritism, embezzlement of funds, and abuse of authority. They said the concerns have been formally raised with the City of Brampton and the mayor’s office.
The dispute centres on the governance of BSL, a federally incorporated not-for-profit organisation governed under Canada’s Not-for-profit Corporations Act. Pervez and Moledina allege that they were removed as directors without a properly convened meeting and that subsequent changes to the board, including the appointment of Shoaib’s wife as a director, were made without lawful authority.
They said a legal notice has been served through counsel, challenging what they describe as unauthorised director removals, improper corporate filings, and alleged misuse of organisational funds. The notice states that all decisions must arise from duly convened member meetings and valid board resolutions, as required by law.
Financial and ground allocation concerns
BSL officials said Shoaib has been asked to repay disputed funds amounting to CAD 39,181 by February 12, 2026, or to submit a legally supported repayment plan. They have also requested the return of all corporate property in his possession.
Separately, they urged the City of Brampton to cancel ground permits allocated to organisations associated with Shoaib, stating that more than 24 cricket teams have applied for city grounds for the 2026 season.
Call for investigation
Pervez and Moledina have called for an independent review by Patrick Brown and Brampton City Council to examine the allegations and ensure transparency in the allocation of public resources.
A member of the mediation committee, Yusuf German, said Shoaib was invited to present his position at the press conference but declined to attend. The officials said further documentation may be presented and that legal proceedings could continue if the matter remains unresolved.
