According to Shaukat Ali Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP) Upper Swat, the blast occurred in a field near the house of Nasir Khan in Matta Tehsil. As a result of the explosion, Nasir Khan’s eight-year-old son, Abdul Hadi, died on the spot, while his five-year-old daughter, Madiha, was critically injured.

Speaking to the media, Rescue 1122 spokesman Niaz Khan said timely response efforts were made to ensure medical assistance to the injured child.

The incident has taken a legal turn after the children’s father, Nasir Khan son of Painda Jan, a resident of Kamalay Awesha, lodged a formal complaint at Matta Police Station. In his application, he nominated Shah Zameen son of Khan Baz and Muhammad Ikram son of Muhammad Jan, residents of Kamalay Awesha currently residing in Punjab, as accused.

The complainant alleged that the nominated individuals had arrived from Punjab and planted explosive material near his house, which led to the fatal explosion. Police confirmed that a case has been registered against both accused on the basis of the complaint.

Police officials said investigations are underway from all angles to determine the nature of the explosive material used. They added that legal action is being taken against the nominated suspects and that an old enmity reportedly exists between the accused and the affected family.
