SWAT: At least 8 people, including 4 women, were killed and 7 others were sustained injured on Saturday, when a pick-up vehicle fell into a ditch hundreds of feet deep in the hilly area of Pandher in Chagharzai Tehsil of Bunir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Sohail Khan, spokesperson of Rescue 1122 Buner Center, the tragic accident happened when the passenger pick-up vehicle was carrying goods and passengers from Sawari Bazar to the remote hilly area of Pandher, due to the brake failure the vehicle, while taking a bend and the driver , Zakir son of Bakht Jamal, lost control and fell into a ditch hundreds of feet deep.
As a result of which, Behtareen Khan and his wife Mamaisha Bibi, Kahib Ullah, Umaira Bibi wife f Anees, Zahir Shah and his wife Gul Mewa, Aleema wife of Ismail and young daughter of Taj Malook died while 7 other people were seriously injured.
He said that the rescue personnel with the support of local people have taken them out and shifted them to Rural Health Center Dewana Baba and District Headquarters Hospital Dagar, while one of the injured has been referred to Peshawar due to critical condition.
According to hospital sources, the condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.
Local people said that due to the dilapidated condition of the road in Chagharzai Tehsil, road traffic accidents have become a regular occurrence and it also involves overloading and carelessness of drivers, but no notice is taken by the administration. Due to which human lives are being lost day by day.
